Alone Together Identity Kit

Alone Together is a new play directed by professor of Film and Theatre Oluchi Nwokocha, performed at the Hammer Theater in San Jose State University. The play consists of various short stories expressing peoples’ experiences and responses to the 2020 global pandemic and quarantine.

Poster design is the main request for this project. A four-segment poster is appropriate for this project to show the four main actors with different emotions. Each color connects with the emotions of the actors. The four posters connect with the other half of the image, creating a pattern with several options of combination. I cut the actors in half to represent separation even though there are two halves together, with two different emotions to show conflict and portray the concept of being alone together.

To build upon my client’s request, I expanded this with concept designs of merchandise that could be sold after the show. My catalog includes two styles of shirts. The first is a 1970’s style-inspired shirt that matches the aesthetic of the poster with the Alone Together logo. The second design is a regular t-shirt colored with the Alone Together title in white. Both shirt designs come in four different colors: blue, green, yellow, and red, which represent the colors and emotions of the poster. Accessories include pins with the actor’s faces, color code, and the Alone Together title. A tote bag is also included, which customers can decorate with the pins and carry for everyday use.
